Youth Boys Rules

YOUTH BOYS ALL LEVELS

1. U15 level is for players under 15 years of age as of 8/31/2010. 9th graders may NOT participate.

2. U13 level is for players under 13 years of age as of 8/31/2010.

3. U11 level is for players under 11 years of age as of 8/31/2010.

4. U9 level is for players under 9 years of age as of 8/31/2010.

5. Spectators must always sit opposite the side the team bench areas. No spectators are allowed behind the

bench areas or on the end lines, NO EXCEPTIONS.

6. All teams must have at least one adult head coach present to participate in a game.

7. All mouth guards must be of a highly visible color, other the white or clear.

8. Home team is responsible for supplying clocks, scorebook, goals, and air horn at the scorer’s table.

9. Home team is responsible to notify the WMYLC Commissioner at least four hours prior to a game if a

game needs to be cancelled. It is recommended for club’s to decide on game cancellations due to

inclement weather on the day before the scheduled game. The WMYLC Commissioner will notify

Officials Association of the cancellation. This allows for communication of cancellations to the multitude

of officials in a timely manner.

10. All cancelled games and rescheduled games must be arranged through the WMYLC commissioner.

The WMYLC Commissioner will report all cancellations and rescheduled games to the official’s

association(s).

11. Home team must notify opposing team of any game cancellation(s).

12. All scheduling of officials must be through the WMYLC Commissioner.

13. The WMYLC does not have forfeits. It is important to have a game regardless of the number of

players showing up for each team. The coaches should agree to loan players to the team with too few

players and a game should be played. Alternatively, the coaches and officials can agree to play with fewer

than the normal number of players on the field. Each team MUST field a properly equipped goalie.

14. All rescheduled games or added games must be communicated to the WMYLC Commissioner at least

9 days in advance of the intended game so that officials may be requested for the game.

15. Home team head coaches are responsible for recording the names of the officials present for the game

and the final score. Each home team head coach is to report the following to the WMYLC commissioner

via e-mail following each game: Teams participating, age group and gender of the teams, names of the

officials present for each game, the final score, and any unusual occurrences. In the subject line of the

e-mail type the home team name and the game date (example: Subject: Middletown Black U11 Boys

3/21/10 Game Report). E-mail the information to

16. Home team is responsible to change jerseys or wear pennies in the event both teams have the same

color jerseys. Recommended that coaches communicate ahead of time to prevent any mix-ups.

17. Each team is required to have a sideline manager. It is the duty of the sideline manager is to enforce

proper sportsmanship for that teams players, spectators, coaches, and other personnel. Each team is

responsible for enforcement of sportsmanship for all of the team’s players, spectators, coaches, and other

personnel. Clubs must sanction those spectators not cooperating with acceptable sportsmanship during

games. See the sideline manager instructions.

18. Officials will not start games for which a sideline manager from each team is not present and actively

policing sportsmanship.

19. Sportsmanship from the coaches, players, and spectators must be a team’s number one priority.

20. Coaches, players, and spectators must respect officials at all times. Polite communication ONLY will

be allowed. WMYLC does not allow the challenging of officials as documented in the NFHS

rulebook. National Federation 2008 rule 7-13 is not recognized in the WMYLC. Challenging of officials

calls will be considered unsportsmanlike conduct for even minor offenses.

21. Profanity is an automatic unsportsmanlike conduct foul; it will not be tolerated.

22. Each team will have at its bench copies of the roster and phone numbers of all players.

23. The WMYLC does not play overtime at the U9 and U11 Levels.

24. Club coordinators may apply to the WMYLC commissioner for written exceptions for players to

“play down”. Players may not “play down” without a written exception from the WMYLC commissioner.

The written exceptions must be kept at the field by the head coach. Bring all player age concerns to the

commissioner for resolution.

25. All normal National Federation rules and game mechanics apply with the exceptions listed above.

26. All games are to have the National Federation pre-game mechanics including coach’s certification,

coin toss, and the “line-up”.

27. Ejections require the player to leave the field of play unless no parent supervision is available. If

parent supervision is not available, the ejected player must remove the uniform and equipment and quietly

sit in the bench area until the end of the game. Ejected players are not allowed to play in the next

scheduled contest and may not be in the team bench area during the next game. Fouling out with 5

personal fouls is not considered an ejection.

28. If a coach is ejected, the coach must immediately leave the field of play. If no other adult coaches are

present for that team, the game is ended and the coach’s team will forfeit. An ejected coach may not

coach in the next scheduled contest. The ejection of a coach will result in WMYLC review of the coach’s

participation in conference at the next regular WMYLC meeting.

29. Coaches are required to communicate the requirement for sportsmanship to the spectators at each

game.

30. All coaches are MUST attend a rules interpretation meeting prior to the start of the season conducted

by WMYLC.

31. Home team coaches and sideline managers are responsible for communicating the WMYLC code of

ethics to the spectators prior to the start of each game.

32. Strict adherence to thunder and lightning policy: Terminate play immediately, all participants and

spectators to cars. Keep sticks down. Stay in cars until the storm has passed. Game may not resume until

30 minutes until after the LAST thunder is heard or lightning is seen. If a series of games at a location,

game may be suspended until a future date.

33. All coaches, adult volunteers, sideline managers, officials and players must have a completed

WMYLC waiver completed and signed before participation in any practices, games, or conference spring

activities. Each team is required to forward a copy of the waiver for each participant along with a roster

for each team to the conference commissioner by March 13, 2010. Mail the waiver forms to:
